Updating Your Residence: Navigating The Address Change Process With Bcbs Insurance

If you're a Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance holder and you've moved, you'll need to update your address details. The process for doing so depends on the type of plan you have and how you purchased it. For example, if you bought your plan through the Marketplace, you'll need to log in to your healthcare.gov account to update your email address. If you bought your insurance directly through Horizon, you can use the Email Us tool, fax your information, or complete the relevant section of your invoice when paying by mail. If you're a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or a client of Veterans Affairs Canada, you can update your address by logging into the mobile app or Member Services site and selecting Personal Information.

Changing your address online

The process for changing your address online depends on the type of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance you have and the state in which you live.

If you have BCBS insurance in Alabama, you can change your address online if your new address is in the same zip code and county as your previous address. To do this, log in to your myBlueCross account. If you do not have an account, you can register for one by visiting AlabamaBlue.com/register.

If you have BCBS insurance in another state, the process for changing your address may be different. Some BCBS insurance plans allow you to change your address by logging into a mobile app or Member Services site and selecting Personal Information. You can also contact the BCBS Customer Service Team for assistance.

If you have Medavie BCBS insurance in Canada, you can change your address at any time by logging into the mobile app or Member Services site and selecting Personal Information. You can also contact the Medavie BCBS Customer Service Team for assistance.

If you have Horizon BCBS insurance in New Jersey, you cannot update your address using the Horizon member website or the Horizon Blue App. Instead, you must provide your name, member ID number, and new address when contacting Horizon BCBS. You can do this by using the Email Us tool and selecting Enrollment as the category, faxing your information to 1-973-274-4413, or checking the box titled Report Address Change and completing the information on your invoice when sending your premium payment by mail.

It is important to note that if you get your BCBS insurance through your employer or a group, you may need to first contact your employer's HR department or the group administrator to make changes to your address.

Changing your address by phone

If you are a Blue Cross member and need to change your address, you can do so by calling the customer service number on the back of your ID card. If you bought your plan on the Marketplace, you can update your address by logging into your healthcare.gov account.

If you purchased your insurance directly through Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, you can request an address change by providing your name, member ID number, and new address through the following means:

• Using the "Email Us" tool and selecting "Enrollment" under Category
• Faxing your information to 1-973-274-4413
• Checking the box titled "Report Address Change" and completing the information on your invoice when sending your premium payment by mail

If you are a member of the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) or School Employees' Health Benefits Program (SEHBP) (except for Rutgers employees), you can update your address by logging into Benefitsolver via your MyNewJersey account. Rutgers employees must update their address directly with Rutgers.

If you are a Medicare Supplement member (other than SHBP and SEHBP members), you can request an address change by:

Changing your address by email

If you are a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas member, you can change your address by submitting a Demographic Change Form. However, it is important to note that they do not accept demographic changes by email.

For Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, you can change your address by submitting a Demographic Change Form. Similar to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, they also do not accept demographic changes by email.

If you are a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama member, you can change your address by calling the Customer Service number located on the back of your ID card. You can also log in to your myBlueCross account to make changes to your address. However, if your new address is in a different zip code or county, you must contact the Marketplace instead.

For Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, you can request an address change by providing your name, member ID number, and new address. You can do this by using their Email Us tool and selecting "Enrollment" under Category, or by faxing your information to 1-973-274-4413.

For Medavie Blue Cross, you can update your address by logging into their mobile app or Member Services site and selecting Personal Information.

Changing your address by mail

To change your address by mail, you must first check how you get your health insurance. If you get your insurance through your employer or a group, you should first contact your employer's HR department or whoever handles your health insurance. If they are unable to help, you can fill out and submit a change of status form or call the number on the back of your Blue Cross ID card.

If you bought your insurance plan yourself, you can make changes 60 days before and after qualifying life events. You can either contact your agent, if you have one, or call the number on the back of your Blue Cross ID card. If you bought your plan on the Marketplace, you will have to log in to your healthcare.gov account.

If you are a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or a client of Veterans Affairs Canada, you can log in to your account to change your address. If you don't have an account, you can register for one. If you are a group administrator, you can log in to your account to change your address. If you don't have an account, you can let us help you set one up.

If you are a provider, you can use the Availity® Essentials Provider Data Management feature or the Demographic Change Form to update your address.

Changing your address via an employer

If you get your Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance through your employer, you can change your address by following these steps:

First, check with your employer to see if you need to update your address with them. Contact your employer's HR department or whoever handles your health insurance. If they are unable to help, you can proceed with the following steps.

Next, you will need to fill out a Change of Status form. This form is for members of an employer-sponsored insurance plan to update their status when changes occur, such as adding or removing spouses or dependents, or making health savings and flexible spending account changes.

The Change of Status form has three sections: subscriber information, coordination of benefits information, and health savings and flexible spending account options. In the subscriber information section, fill out your social security number and your updated name, address, or telephone number. You can also indicate here if you want to add or remove a spouse or children (dependents).

The coordination of benefits section is for informing Blue Cross Blue Shield that your spouse or dependent has health insurance through another company. The health savings and flexible spending account section is for adding, changing, or cancelling a health savings or flexible spending account.

After completing the form, return it within 30 days of the change. You can submit the form by fax or mail to the addresses provided on the Blue Cross Blue Shield website.

Additionally, if you are a Canadian resident with insurance through Medavie Blue Cross, you can change your address by logging into the mobile app or Member Services site and selecting Personal Information.
