International students
The University of Texas System requires all international students holding F1, F2, J1 or J2 non-immigrant visas to have approved medical health insurance and repatriation/evacuation coverage while enrolled. This does not include vision or dental coverage.

Students who qualify for the benefit of UT SHIP, paid for by UTA, are automatically enrolled in UT SHIP at the start of each Fall and Spring Semester. This enrollment occurs when the appointment is processed by the student’s academic department and then finalized by the Graduate School.
